8 Simple Tips For Interior Painting

Though painting the interior of a home can freshen it up easily and instantly give it a new look many homeowners dread it. Painting your home’s interior won’t be too bad if you know what to do and how to do it in an efficient manner. If you need some tips for interior painting, the following tips are perfect for you and your next in home painting project.

1.Don’t attempt to prep and paint the area all in one day. You can only feel rushed by this, and feeling rushed leads to doing a bad pain job. A day to prep the area for painting should be set aside. If the room doesn’t see too much traffic, the painting can be done a few days later. On the preparation day be sure to do things such as laying down drop clothes, gathering all painting supplies, taping the walls and moving the furniture.

2. Painting over damaged walls is a bad idea. Fix any hole or cracks that your wall might have before you start painting. Use drywall kits and sanding to easily fix the cracks and holes in a wall. So that there will be time to sand the area down and time for the drywall plaster to dry, make sure that you do it all a day before you paint.

3. When choosing a brush make sure you choose the best one for the job. Go with natural bristles on your brush if you are using an oil-based paint. Buy synthetic bristled brushes for the job if you are using a water-based or latex paint, as these are the best at painting an even coat with these paints. Larger painting areas will warrant that you use foam rollers. Paint around the trim and windows with smaller brushes.

4.Use a primer color on the walls if you want a professional look for them. A primer color will help to avoid tainting from a previous wall color and will make the paint go on much more even. You can probably avoid a second coat of base color by having you primer tinted to match your base coat color.

5. If you don’t want to get paint on your doorway frames, trim and windows make sure that you use painter’s blue tape. Make sure to use painter’s blue tape to on areas like doorway frames, trim and windows that you don’t want to get paint on. If you don’t want paint to go in a certain area apply this tape to the surface of the area. If you don’t want paint to seep into an area be sure to apply this tape to the surface of the area. Don’t worry about any of the painting coming with the tape when you remove it from the dried area.

6. Make sure you have plenty of old rags on hand just in case any mistakes happen. Your brush may hit something that it shouldn’t, or you might drop some paint on the trim, mistakes are inevitable.

7.To get an even coat be sure to pain in even strokes. Plenty of natural lighting in the room is best to see where you are painting and any parts you may have missed.

8.Keep your leftover paint for future fixes and touch-ups. If you don’t have too much paint left over make sure that you pour it into a glass jar with a tight lid if you don’t want to keep the can. The date, the room the paint was used in and its exact color should all be labeled on the jar.

You don’t have to be scared of painting the interior of your home. Following these easy steps will get you on your way to changing your home’s décor in no time.
