A FUNCTIONAL LIVING ROOM

I have been to many houses with living rooms that has been labeled for your eyes only, funny isn’t it?  They may have not tagged it literally but the setting simply says so. If you are serious about creating a functional living room you need to go about it in a serious manner. That is not to say the project won’t be fun – it will be! But you will also have the time and money if you approach the redesign of your front room as a professional would.

An interior designer may cost you much – but you need their professional advice, if you are about to do it yourself, take detailed notes about the area, the measurement and your concepts. Take a long look at your room and you can also ask other family members for their input – that way you can be sure that everyone’s expectations are met.

When you plan to renovate, asses your likes and dislikes about that room, like for example when you walk into your living room, which things strike you as good or bad features? Make a note of these. It will help if you can remember what you loved or hated about that room. A good design is one that is well- balanced – in other words, no one thing in the room should strike you the moment you enter through the door. Each element of the room should compliment each other. When visitors walk in the living room, they should appreciate and find the whole room attractive, not just a part of it.
