Add a Splash of Color to a Tired Looking Room

Have you lived in your home for years? You may feel that it’s high time for an update. When you’ve had the same colors and accents for a long time, you may feel that you want a change. Perhaps you’re finding that your kitchen and living area have begun looking tired and drab. You may not be able to afford a home makeover, but you do have other options.

Spruce up your home using vibrant colors and add a few new accents. You’ll be amazed by the difference! The best part is, even though you’re not spending a bundle of money, your home will look as though you did.

In the Living Room
The look of your living room should be appealing, especially considering that this is a place family and friends love to congregate and enjoy each other’s company. Have you been stuck on modern or contemporary décor for years? It may be time to do something bold! Move away from the black, beige, and tan you usually go for, and be a little daring.

If you want a look that’s fresh, energizing, and demands attention, work with vibrant blues, tropical greens, and peaches. Choose a light celery green for the walls, and then paint the baseboards and doors a dark forest green. Bright botanical prints can add the perfect highlight to the walls, and you can even throw in some fruity- or tropical-scented candles. Add in a little silk greenery casually displayed in clear glass vases on a coffee table, you can create a totally different room.

Never be afraid to add boldly patterned throw pillows to solid-colored furniture. For some real interest and originality, mix together floral designs, stripes, and plaids. As long as the colors complement one another, the resulting look will be incredible.

Add Pizzazz in the Kitchen & Dining Room
If this area of your home looks a little worn out and drab, it may very well need some color. Be sure to keep the color theme in line with the living room, particularly if these areas run together. If you’re looking for that perfect kitchen color, try citrus colors. Bright curtains on the windows can really perk things up. Try prints with sunflowers, strawberries, and other bright hues to add energy to the area.

In the dining room, place a brightly colored runner down the center of your mission dining table. Then place a straw basket filled with fruit there. Paint the walls in the dining area a vibrant color. You can then add splashes of excitement by applying contrasting colors using a feather duster. See where your imagination takes you. As long as you keep things bright and cheery, any idea or accent will work.

In end, the point of all this is to make your rooms in your home come alive. For years, you have been living with the same dull and boring colors day after day. It’s time to add some vibrancy and excitement to your home. By combining many bright, bold colors, you will find that your rooms look much more interesting and there seems to be more depth there. Rather than blending together in a sea of white, accents and furniture stand out. You’ll find that every area of the room begins to take on a life of its own.

So go for the gusto and don’t hold back! With bright, energetic colors, you can give your home not only a brand-new look but an exciting feel as well. Go for drama and flair and forget those rooms with no personality. You’ll find that you have a feeling of renewed energy and vitality every time you enter your home.
