Can Wall Protection Be Stylish?

Striking a balance between functionality and aesthetics is a consideration for anyone responsible for the maintenance of schools, hospitals, offices and even homes. In any place with a high volume of people traffic, wall protection is an issue.

Typically we see wall protection most often in hospitals, so if you’re working in one you’re likely to be familiar with wall protection. Wall protection is a common fixture in hospital corridors, to protect against damage by trolleys. Nowadays, hospitals are decorated in such a way to create a positive, relaxing environment for patients and staff. Thank goodness, then, that wall protection isn’t all boring. In fact huge ranges are available in a variety of colours, materials and patterns. Some regulations concerning provisions for the partially sighted state that protectors should be in different colours to the walls. This means that designers are more creative than ever.

In schools, corridors are also at risk from passing rucksacks, computer trolleys and general hustle and bustle. School corridors suffer hustle and bustle which can damage their walls. Wall protection is frequently seen in educational establishments. Just as with hospitals, school décor is more of an issue than ever before.

Offices also struggle to avoid damage by high volume use, delivery boxes and the like. Office managers may want to create a classy and sophisticated atmosphere and traditional plastic wall protection could jeopardise the look they try to create. Fortunately, most tastes can be catered for with wide ranges of wall protection. Customers may even wish to choose bespoke protection in corporate colours.

You may think this is of little relevance to you. But wall protection does have a purpose in the home too. Homes with, for example, gym equipment or wheelchair users may suffer wall scratches and chips. Homes like these may suit discreet wall protection, which will not detract from the décor of the house.
Functionality is no longer the sole consideration behind wall protection. I’m not saying the world and his dog are going to rush out and buy wall protection as a home fashion statement, but bespoke options and wide ranges have redressed the style-substance balance.
