In designing a child’s room you must consider the fact that a child grows up fast, the need varies according to the phase the child is in. The furniture, the decor and storage space that was adequate awhile ago may not be enough tomorrow. The child outgrows everything, from socks, to his room.

The room takes a new function as the years go by, it starts as the nursery then becomes the playroom later becomes a study room then a place to entertain friends and so end in most cases this room ends up to be the guest room. Storage space is always a problem in a child’s bedroom space has to be found for clothes, books and toys – which all accumulate rapidly. A simply constructed wardrobe should cope with most storage problems. Additional shelving can be arranged around the walls of the room, this can be adjusted as the child grows. It is essential to look ahead when choosing the furnishings and furniture pieces for the children’s room.

The floor covering should be carefully chosen too, a tough washable carpet will do the trick for youngster who loves to play in and outdoors. Choose the kind that you see will stand the wear and tear.  But with little boys around, carpets would be hard for them to make their cars move, in this case a vinyl or cork floor will do, later on you can cover the floor when it is time to keep the toys.
