Home Improvements - A New Bathroom
Those of us of a certain age can well remember Sunday night meant Bath night and in came the old tin bath into the kitchen or scullery for the whole rigmarole of the family bathing one after the other or perhaps a couple of the kids in together to save heating and water.
Nowadays of course things are far simpler with virtually every home containing its own bathroom. Whoever cleans the bathroom will find it can make it takes more time due to difficulty. When you look after bathroom, a little money can help a great deal in keeping it maintained and looking great.
If you are lucky enough to be in a position that you are building your own bathroom then remember a few simple things like making sure you utilise the highest quality tiling that your pocket will allow as this could help reduce usage of detergents in the future cleaning. Removing algae and dirt is much easier when using bathroom tiles rather than a painted wall.
That the tiles arranged, what about the bath?. If can be quite daunting as the options available can be very wide indeed. There are a number of different materials that baths are made of like Cast Iron, Steel, Stone Resin and even a type of Acrylic. All have pros and cons. Cast iron is strong but very heavy and the latter is important if you are building your own bathroom. A Steel bath can be very strong but not as efficient as some other materials as water can cool down quicker. For great strength, Stone Resin can be used but costs quite a bit. For the cost, Acrylic is very good but when used for a bath it can be weak if you want to stand it in and have a hollow sound.
Normally, a complete bathroom suite is invested in that brings out the best of the room with the toilet, sink and bath all being replaced.
If you are not intending on a complete suite then purchasing a sink may like the bath give you a few moments of difficult decision making.
There is a load of options and in all sorts of price ranges.
A sink does not always come with taps so make sure you accommodate these into your budget.
You may need to decide if to go for a stainless steel sink or a stone variety.
Have a think what the best uses of it will be.
In the family area it is likely to be used for shaving, washing and the bugbear to all woman hair washing especially by the male occupants
Ensure that enough space is available around the area in which the sink will stand also that there is ample room for bending over and performing your ablutions.
Finally, as far as the large items are concerned is the toilet itself unless a bidet is on your shopping list. There are many styles to choose from but for installation, it can sometimes be a wiser choice to stick with the stardard options. Following the instructions you should find it reasonably easy to install your own bowl. You may find your toilet is not sold with a toilet seat so do check before purchasing as you may have a shock later.
Having a family member who has a more proffesional range of experiences can be much easier.
