Natural Ways to Clean Your Flooring
If you are under the illusion that you need to use lots of harsh chemicals to clean you floor then you’re very mistaken. No matter what sort of flooring is installed, you want to keep them nice and clean. Home steam cleaners are great but not cheap.Try a few of the ideas below and see how proud you can be of your floors.
A few drops of vinegar in the cleaning water will help remove grease. Dull, greasy film on no-wax linoleum can be washed away with 1/2 cup white vinegar mixed into 1/2 gallon water.
For fantastic wood floors then you will need Vegetable Oil and vinegar. To do this all you need is equal amounts of oil and vinegar and then just apply thinly to your floor. Make sure you rub the solution in well.
If your wooden flooring is painted, combine 1 teaspoon washing soda into 1 gallon hot water and wash the floor with a mop, sponge, or soft bristled brush. This solution can also be used to remove mildew.
For brick and stone flooring you can again utilize vinegar. Mix 1 cup white vinegar into 1 gallon water. Scrub the floor with a brush and the vinegar solution. Once you have done this you should rinse the floor and repeat the the process with clean water.
Vinegar is also fantastic if you have ceramic tiles on your floor. Mix 1/4 cup white vinegar (more if very dirty) into 1 gallon water. You should find that this mixture is very effective at getting rid of dirt without too much in the way of scrubbing and you don’t need to worry about having a film develop over the tiles. If you have hard water in your area then you will find that using soap and water is no where near as good as it leaves an insoluble film.
To remove black heel marks simply use baking soda. It’s really very easy as all you do is mix the powder with some water and rub it into the mark. Just ensure that you don’t add in too much qater water as this will dilute the baking soda too much and it’s won’t be as effective.
