WORKING AREAS

The average family may well include a student, almost all Filipino families has one if not many children who stays home with them, could be a student or somebody working. The father and mother brings home work as well, finding a space for all of them requires ingenuity and careful planning.  Every family needs a working area in the home, space planning is very essential when in comes to this, proper layout and lighting is a must. The amount of space you provide will depend on the activity, and one activity may share with another. The common term used for this space is the study or the library, not every family can afford a spare room in the house or has the luxury to extend their homes for this purpose.

As the need of more space increases, many homeowners are looking at the empty spaces above or below the house, like the attic and the basement. All these can be converted into your working areas, you just need enough headroom for you to be able to stand and move around. However it would be wise to consult a competent builder, contractor and an interior designer. The interior design of the house should be consulted with the professionals if you think you can’t do it on your own. Be wise and practical. Before you arrive at any decision, asses the need of each family member. A  student’s homework needs at least a table or desk and shelves for books and files, creative hobbies such as painting and sewing needs a space where things can be left without being worked on.
