KITCHEN SPACE PLANNING

When designing a kitchen, the layout and the choices of the cooking appliances are the main concerns the layout should be a perfect work triangle, the shape and size of a kitchen largely dominate the setting of worktops and units and the amount of space that can be devoted to them. Equally divide the space you have allotted for the kitchen, it is better if you have a large area for this so you can have a place to breathe even when you are just plainly washing the dishes. If you need a larger kitchen space, removal of dividing walls will achieve the much needed space, and this will add an airy ambiance too! If so happen it is impossible to alter the wall, like if it is beside a toilet, it may be worth considering to relocate the kitchen.  When you do this, look for a space that has enough lighting and ventilation, for the aesthetics of your kitchen space be creative but practical. The style or mood of your kitchen should reflect your own likes and dislikes, choose the type of units and equipment that you want to live with, whatever your choice try to keep the style consistent, throughout  - in the walls, flooring, cupboards and even the floor.

In a well planned kitchen there should be three main work surfaces: one for food preparation, this is the main work area, one for food mixing and one for cooking.

For the lighting of your kitchen space, an even spread of light with no shadows is best achieved with fluorescent lamps.
