Choosing a High Quality Persian Rug

My parents are Persian rug enthusiasts so having grown up in a home with Persian rugs I can’t imagine an interior without one.

Any rug enthusiast will know the significance of the KPSI or knots per square inch factor when choosing a rug. Rugs from the holy city of Qum in the south of Tehran really boast exceptionally high KPSI’s along with their high quality materials. To be honest the Qum rugs are not my most favorite of Persian rugs, however they are popular and certainly worth consideration if you are just entering the world of Persian rugs.

If you are not able to get overseas to see them being crafted in their place of origin you can always check them out online.
Sarough rugs from the Sarough village in west-central Iran are my favorite of Persian rugs. Featuring bold burgundy, red and navy colors and woven with high quality wool these rugs are a really prized, timeless investment for any home or business environment.

I really enjoy traveling with the opportunity to experience the different food, music, arts and crafts that other cultures have to offer. I love market shopping in the Middle East and India, however considering you can always bet on an overly enthusiastic sales person trying to sell you rugs, these days I prefer the ease of buying my Persian rugs online from a reputable rug dealer.
