Initiate An Eco Friendly Lifestyle By Saving Water

By now, all of us are quite aware that water is an essential need. However, a lot of people waste water without even realizing what this may result in. You might see water going down Copper kitchen sinks or Copper sinks in your bathroom, and you might not even notice the loss. The reality is that the loss of water can affect the environment. Today, we mainly emphasize on protecting our limited resources, and saving water is the initial step that must be taken to do that.

You may think as to why we need to save the water in the first place. Many have the routine of keeping the tap open while they brush or shave, while they wash the dishes, and whenever they are watering the plants. This routine goes back to those people’s childhood as back then they had neglected the need of saving water. Water did not finish back then, so why will it run out in the future? If the Universe is a closed system, how can water leave it if we are neglectful about it? The answer is a bit complicated.

Wasting water does not directly affect the environment. Yet when you are using more water than needed that would mean that you are pumping more water from the reservoirs. This of course requires energy, and this energy comes from different sources. Wasting water will therefore not be energy efficient because wasting water will also mean that you are wasting energy. On the other hand, the water purification plants will have to operate more if you are wasting the water.

There are many easy ways for you to save water and take another step towards eco friendly living. Now this is not only limited to closing the tap while you are brushing your teeth or shaving. Read on to find a few more ways of saving water and energy:

• When you are washing the dishes using your hands, it is not essential that you always keep the water running while you are washing the dishes. What you can do is fill a small tub with wash water and the other with rinse water. This way you can save water that could have been wasted while you are rinsing the dishes.

• When you are thinking of flooring outside your home, go for shrubs and groundcovers rather than turfs on steep slopes and isolated strips.

• Although evaporation of water will not be a problem to the environment, at times you will have to take care of it so that you do not have to use water again and again for the similar reason. For instance, when you are watering the plants, the water may evaporate and you will have to water it again. For this, you must water your lawn in the morning or afternoon when the temperatures are relatively lower. Also when you are watering steep areas where water quickly washes away, a good idea is to water them in brief intervals so that plants have more time for absorption.

• Use showers instead of long baths. You might not require as much water for a shower in contrast with the water you use to fill up the bathtub.
